About the item

An extremely rare set of TopForm (pre Formica era) dining chairs. Produced in the Netherlands. Unknown designer.

Never encountered another same set and therefore they are considered as very rare.

Certainly designed in a space-age language that has strong similarities in material use and shape to Eero Saarinen (Tulip), Maurice Burke (Arkana) and Michel Cadestin (Airborne). But it still has its own character, in particular due to the shape of the seat and leaning part that seems to be cut off at the top in order to create a fully encapsulated seating area.

Certainly a fine example of space age design combined with a modernist twist.

The chairs feature a fibreglass swivel tulip foot and the entire top part features fibreglass as well. The seating part is upholstered in orange fabric as well.

Stickers are still present on the chairs, proving their authenticity.

About its condition

The chairs are in fully original condition.

The fibreglass is still in good condition with normal wear for its age. No structural damage visible to the fibreglass.

The fabric is nowhere damaged however it has discolouration and stains visible. For an optimal result we can reupholster the chairs in any fabric you prefer or you can use them as is.

The swivel mechanisms still work without any issues.
