About the item 

Straight forward but ingenious design by Philippe Starck for Cassina; the MISTER sofa is a modular sofa system with a fixed base where upholstered elements can be added to in order to compose multiple arrangements. The parts basically click on a metal frame that keeps it all in place. The beauty of this system is that replacing a part of the sofa, or just the fabric, is very easy to do. The ingenious system created by Philippe Starck allows for a multitude of arrangements and the fabric has sleeves with zipper construction. The backrest consists of 1 piece that is fixed on the base through a special connection. The pillows are separate and placed on the base for the seating part and against the backrest piece for the backrest pillows.

As one could expect, in the typical Cassina fashion, the sofa is built in a very qualitative manner, despite its modular setup.

The MISTER series was created in 2004 and is a piece of sober yet distinctive design. In particular noteworthy is the slight curvature of the backrest and the thickness of the armrests. The seating position is mid-height (neither low nor heigh) but the depth of the sofa does provide for a strong lounge like feeling.

This specific MISTER sofa is a 2-27 configuration in 252 cm width, with a seating area of 180 cm width and 2 large armrests of 36 cm width. The sofa has been upholstered in a beautiful taupe-grey wool fabric.

About its condition 

The sofa is in very good condition with only limited traces of use. The fabric has been remarkably well maintained. Some discolouration is visible on the fabric.
